Book Review: Weight Wars by Rrashima Swaarup Verma

Weight Wars, A Hilarious journey from Flab to Fab by Rrashima Swaarup Verma felt like holding a mirror. It is perfect for anyone looking for a story that combines humour with genuine insight into the modern lifestyles.

The story follows Radhika Sadarangani, a 42 old mother and a working professional suddenly forced to confront the gap between her career and her self-image as she embarks on a weight‑loss journey after health warnings and social pressures. Radhika is vulnerable and hilarious as she navigates the confusing landscape of fitness apps and gym culture.

What makes this book stand out is its refusal to be just another weight loss manual. Instead it is a sharp and witty exploration of how we perceive ourselves in a world obsessed with insta perfection.

Exiles by LJ Ambrosio

The narrative voice is incredibly authentic. The core of the book is not about hitting a specific number on a scale but rather about reclaiming self worth and prioritizing health over societal expectations.

I found myself smiling because they ring so true for anyone who has ever felt out of place in gym outfits. The author manages to balance humour with a deeper emotional resonance.

One of the strongest elements of the writing is the pacing. The chapters flow naturally and the supporting characters add layers of warmth and conflict that keep the plot moving.

While the premise is lighthearted the underlying message is handled with a lot of heart. It avoids being preachy which is a common pitfall for this genre.

Overall this was a refreshing and relatable read. Rrashima Swaarup Verma delivers a relatable portrait of modern urban pressures. The narrative blends humor with poignancy, exposing not just the difficulty of weight loss but the cultural scrutiny that surrounds it.
